Frequently asked questions

1. What's the difference between Organic and Natural?
-To be considered organic materials must come from plants that are not genetically modified and grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Natural materials can also be non-gmo but are allowed to use synthetic fertilizers/ pesticides.

2. What kind of soap do you make?
-All the bars of soap I make and sell are made using the cold-process. Cold-process is soap made from oil that is being saponified for the first time, as opposed to melt-and-pour soap. The benefit of making cold-process soap is it allows you to choose the oils and proportions of said oils in order to get the qualities you want from a bar. Melt-and-pour is soap that is pre-made and simply melted to re-shape and or add things to it such as exfoliants.

3. What is the white powdery stuff on the soap?
-The white powder is Soda ash or Sodium carbonate. It is a salt that sometimes forms when lye reacts with carbon dioxide in the air. It is a harmless salt and easily washes off with a bit of use.

4. Is your palm oil ethically sourced?
-The palm oil used in my soaps is bought from an RSPO certified wholesaler. RSPO is a non-profit organization that promotes the sustainable production of palm oil and certifies companies that meet their standards. More information https://rspo.org/
